  • How Slow Can mTrax Go ?
You can slow down an audio file up to 5 times its original tempo/speed. For example, if a tune was recorded at 200 BPM (Beat Per Minute), you can slow it down to 40 BPM. Similarly, you can speed up a track 3 times its original speed. This means that a song recorded at 100 BPM can be played at 300 PBM. Note that changes in Tempo do not affect the Pitch of the tune. Also note that just as creating track sections (saved loops) or adjusting the pitch, changing the song tempo does not affect or damage your audio file in any way.

  • Is mTrax compatible with Mac computers ?
Although mTrax is a Windows program, Apple has made it easy to run Windows programs on a Mac. Here is an Excerpt of Apple's FAQs page:

Can a Mac run Windows and Microsoft Office?

Yes. Microsoft Office is available for the Mac, and Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files created on a Mac are fully compatible with Windows. Most other popular applications are available for the Mac, too. But if you need to use a particular Windows-only application, you have a few options: Boot Camp comes with every new Mac, and it lets you run Windows natively — as if your Mac were a PC. If you want to run Mac OS X and Windows side by side, you can purchase Parallels Desktop for Mac or VMware Fusion. Install one of these applications, along with the Windows Installation CDs, and you can run the occasional Windows program right next to your Mac applications, without having to restart.

  • What is the Microsoft .NET Framework?
Microsoft .NET Framework is a software component that is a part of several Microsoft Windows operating systems. It has a large library of pre-coded solutions to common programming problems and manages the execution of programs written specifically for the framework. The .NET Framework is a key Microsoft offering and is intended to be used by most new applications created for the Windows platform.

When installing mTrax, the setup program checks to see if the Microsoft .NET Framework is already installed on your computer. If it is not installed, the mTrax setup program also downloads and installs it as mTrax relies on it. mTrax currently uses the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0.

  • Can mTrax Play Apple copy protected audio files, those with an m4p extension?
No, mTrax does not currently support m4p files. To use these audio files with mTrax, you will have to convert them to a format that mTrax supports like mp3. A search for 'convert m4p to mp3' on yahoo will help you find a variety of ways to accomplish this.  Note that mp4 files (not the same as Apple's m4p format) are  not copy protected.

  • What types of Audio Files can mTrax Play?
    mTrax version 2.5.2: mp3, m4a, wma, mp4, ogg, wav.

    mTrax version 2.4.10: mp3, m4a, wma, mp4, ogg.

mTrax version 2.4.8: mp3, mp4, m4a (iTunes) and wma (Microsoft).

mTrax version 2.4.7 and earlier: mp3 and m4a (iTunes).

  • Is mTrax just for guitar players?
No. mTrax is for anyone playing an musical instrument, including singers! No matter your instrument, the many features in mTrax will help you learn your favorite songs or solos. We do love our guitar heroes out there but music would be a little boring if we took away the drums, bass, piano, sax, violin, trombone and countless other wonderful sound making marvels, human voice being one of them. Note than musicians who would never be caught singing, even in the shower, use mTrax to transcribe music.

mTrax is also used by music lovers who are not necessarily musicians. One user who rides horses and teaches Dressage found mTrax very useful for perfecting dressage routines set to music.

Dancers, ice skaters and other disciplines where choreography is involved will also find mTrax invaluable.

You can also use mTrax in your foreign language studies or simply to speed read books (books-on-files) in your own language while your commuting to and from work!

  • I do not have a Paypal account; can I purchase mTrax with my Credit Card?
Yes. Paypal gives you the option of paying with your credit card without having to create a Paypal account.  TerraSofta uses Paypal for payment processing because it is a safe way to conduct online financial transactions, with or without a paypal account.

  • Why Paypal?
"PayPal is the safer, easier way to pay and get paid online.". Because we use Paypal, we do not have to handle financial transactions on our servers and so we never have any customers financial records (Credit Card Numbers etc.) in our possession. This arrangement is safer for our customers as well as TerraSofta. When you buy from TerraSofta, you are re-directed to Paypal servers as soon as you are ready to complete your order. In addition, Paypal allows payments with a large number of credit card companies; you do not have to create a paypal account to finalize your purchase.

  • Is mTrax easy to use?
  • mTrax is great for practicing many songs from a list; what if I just want to focus on ONE song?
Very simple; click here to see sample of mTrax's UI. One way to focus on just one song is to use a Smart Practice List. Just set the 'Title' filter to the name of the song you want to work on (in this case we want to practice "Stray Cat Strut") and you're good to go. You won't see any other songs in your list. In the sample picture, we have also pinned most controls to the sides or moved them out of the main window. You can see in the picture that "Stray Cat Strut" has 4 sections under it; you can create as many sections as you need, but if you just need one section, just create one, delete or filter out the ones you don't need.
